Woody's One Stop Shop
Woody Marine represent generations of boat building experience and include highly skilled naval architects, boat building project managers and specialised expertise in all aspects of boat building. Our areas of speciality are aluminium, stainless steel and include rigid inflatable boats.
Below is an outline of our one stop shop service:
| Creative Boat Design Team: |
Our
in-house Naval Architect prepares a comprehensive weight analysis of the
vessel and matches this data with the hull hydrostatics, ensuring the hull
floats at the correct trim and draft and the collars are just clear of the
design waterline.
Once all these checks are made, the structure is modelled in the 3D hull and all components are drawn and a Computer Cut file is generated. This cut file incorporates the hull frames, stringers, the deck, outboard well and bow locker components and are all nested on sheets to minimise wastage and to maximise usage.
Our designs are constantly evolving and being revised and over time we have developed a very methodical build process with as many components folded to reduce welding and increase efficiencies.
| Woody Marine Custom Designed Boats: |
Woody Marine has now introduced a new design service aspect to the business.
With the introduction of a qualified Naval Architect into WMF it allows the
clients to get custom designed boats drawn up and built all in the one location.
We feel that this ability to offer this service is very special and provides
a personal touch with every boat. Stephen Plummer graduated from the Australian
Maritime College with 1st Class Honors and has 10 years experience in the
Maritime field. He has been involved in projects ranging from 12.5m Rigid
Inflatable Boats and 5.5m Plate Alloy Boats to 30m Luxury Motor Yachts and
a 70m landing Barge.
ConceptFrom the clients concept in initial discussions, we draw computer generated Cad plans for the basis of discussions. We have the ability to design either Commercial or Pleasure boats and to various classification society rules.

Hull DesignThe boats hull design is then generated in 3D in Maxsurf, a specific hull program that calculates critical hull parameters in order to design and deliver a boat that both performs and floats in the correct manner. We have the ability to provide the client with 3D images of the hull in various orientations, giving the client a visual picture of how their boat will look before construction |

Computer Cutting:We can generate computer cutting files that our Aluminium supplier can use with their routing equipment, providing an accurate, efficient and cost effective means of building a boat. This feature of the design office ensures the ability to build a boat of the highest quality and accuracy. |

Building Fitout - Engineering Sea Trials - Electrical Commissioning
With years of experience in the boating industry, we can build the boats as well as coordinating all the other trades required to get the boat from the drawing board to the water. We know various sub-contractors from marine electricians to marine engineers to carpenters to hydraulic engineers to upholsterers and painters.
Once the boat is complete in the workshop, it is then sea trialed to ensure that all the systems work, from anchor winches to toilets to main engines and steering. The vessel is then commissioned and ready to be deliver to the client.
