Delivered in June, "Eco Extreme" is another Woody Marine-built, 14-metre RHIB with quad Yamaha 261kW V8 outboards.

The boat was recently launched in Jervis Bay for local eco-tourism provider Dolphin Watch Cruises (www.dolphinwatch.com.au). With a combined 1,044kW of brute engine capacity, there is nothing to hold this vessel back.

This is the sixth successful quad installation built and commissioned by Woody Marine in the last two years.

The success of these vessels for the owners led to the development of the 14-metre version with the first vessel launched in February 2008 powered by four of the new Yamaha F350HP (261kW) four-stroke outboards - another first in the world for Woody Marine. This vessel in the last few weeks has completed a crossing from the main Island of Fiji to Port Vila, Vanuatu.

The latest examples of the 14-metre Woody Marine Design RIB are "Wild Thing" and "Adventure", both launched in December 2008 for Tasmanian Company Hobart Cruises, a culmination of a close working relationship between the client, Woody Marine's in-house naval architect Stephen Plummer and Sydney-based Spear Green Design.

A large crowd was in attendance as was The Qld Emergency Services Minister, Neil Roberts, NSW Emergency Services Minister Nathan Rees, The Hon Justine Elliott, MP for Richmond, Mr Geoff Provest, MP for Tweed, Ms Jan Stuckey, MP for Currumbin, and Mr Max Boyd, Administrator for Tweed Council. The vessel, costing in excess of $400,000.00 was funded by grants from the NSW & Qld State Governments, donations from Twin Towns Club Services Club and through fund raising by the members of VMR Point Danger.

Two 25-inch and two 30-inch DF300s were fitted to a purpose-built 12.5 metre Naiad R.I.B. destined for eco tourism company Sensational Wave Adventures in Forster, Australia.

Boat builders Woody Marine and Suzuki distributor The Haines Group took the boat for its maiden run on Moreton Bay. With 30 people on board, they were still reaching speeds of 47 knots.

A new, high-performance patrol vessel was launched today by Transport and Main Roads Minister Paul Lucas at the Port of Brisbane.

Mr Lucas said the $150,000 PortWatch 2 will boost surveillance and patrolling capabilities at the port which was visited by over 2,600 ships last financial year.

“The new vessel will go a long way in helping protect trade and critical infrastructure as well as the hundreds of people who work at the port.”

The Premier was at Mooloolaba Marina to officially launch a new dive vessel - the 11.3 metre MV Scuba World - an inflatable boat that can transport 20 divers at a time to the ex-HMAS Brisbane Conservation Park. "Recreational diving has become incredibly popular on the Sunshine Coast with Scuba World experiencing a 400 per cent boost in dive numbers in the 12 months following the scuttling of the ex-HMAS Brisbane," Mr Beattie said.
